IMES to create 10 jobs with new business

Aberdeen-based IMES Group is expecting to create 10 jobs with the launch of a new business designed to enhance offshore safety and integrity.

The company has made a six-figure investment in its marine safety systems (MSS) division with six offshore jobs already created and a further four to follow by the end of the year.

IMES has appointed Colin Cunningham to head up the new MSS business as operations director.

Boasting over 35 years’ oil and gas experience, Colin brings a wealth of industry knowledge having most recently worked as global director of launch and recovery systems at Survitec.

Prior to that, Colin was operations director for marine and offshore operations at Cosalt Offshore. He has also performed senior roles, both in the UK and internationally, specialising in the global marine safety sector.

“We feel there is a real gap in the market for the kind of service offered by the new marine safety systems division and have already received a positive response from prospective clients. Rod Buchan, executive chairman at IMES Group, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Colin on board at what is an extremely exciting time for the business.

“As part of our strategic growth plan, we are actively expanding into adjacent spaces around our core business.

“We see moving into the marine safety systems area as a natural fit given the extensive subsea and marine knowledge possessed by our team as well as the company’s range of industry-recognised accreditations.”

Initially based at its Bridge of Don headquarters, IMES plans to move its MSS division to a dedicated facility in the north-east by the end of the year to support expected growth.
