Pine Hollow Dairy seeks a Dairy Operations Manager. We are a 1000 cow, 1500-acre dairy located in Southern Cayuga County in the Finger Lakes Region of Central New York. Pine Hollow Dairy has a long history of excellent herd performance and strives to be environmentally responsible, kind to the animals under our care, regarded as a preferred employer by our staff and a good neighbor by our community. Our team leaders are ambitious and motivated with a 'can do' attitude. We desire for cattle under our care to achieve exceptionally high milk solids production.

Preferred Experience:
-Milking, feeding and caring for a herd of dairy cows
-Managing inventory of supplies, medicines, and feed
-Knowledge of and capability to breed cows
-Knowledge of and capability to use Dairy Comp 305/Excel/Digistar software and SCR system
-Juggling conflicting priorities and delegating to achieve optimal results
-Spanish communication skills
-Supervisory experience and demonstrated success as a peer leader
There are several specific areas of responsibility with associated performance expectations for the Dairy Operations Manager.
Responsibilities:
-Ensure dairy achieves high scores on quarterly milk cooperative evaluations focused on safety, animal well-being, and staff training
-Overall facility safety, maintenance and aesthetics
-Daily and weekly monitoring of utility room and milking parlor equipment performance
-Supervise and manage milking and herd management staff of 16 employees
-Organize weekly tasks such as reproductive injections, vaccinations, dry-offs, etc.
-Inventory management of feed, medicine and supplies including purchasing
-Oversee calf care staff to ensure herd goals are achieved and that calves are cared for in a socially conscious manner
-Achieve high milk quality premiums and inspection scores
-Monitor and supervise staff to the PHD SOP for feed delivery and push-up
-Manage refusals to PHD standards and strive for exceptional feed conversion efficiency
-Ensure all herd health records using DC305 and on farm systems are accurate and timely
-Responsible for operation of computer-controlled cow comfort system
-Work with owners and consultants to continually improve PHD SOPs
This is a full-time position with scheduled days off, complimented with a benefits package including health insurance, retirement program and vacation time.
Starting pay is commensurate with experience.
