We are looking for a Senior/ Principal Mechanical Engineer with experience in providing office and site based consultancy on steam turbines for the nuclear industry.

Extensive experience in several of the following areas is required:
  • Power station experience with UK EPR, French turbine components;
  • Provision of site based technical consultancy support, direct to the customer for new build projects;
  • Development of maintenance and replacement strategies;
  • Provision of inspection, repair and maintenance advice;
  • New plant specifications;
  • Integrity assessments;
  • Component design / redesign;
  • Flexible operation and damage limitation studies.

Skills / Qualifications
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have:
  • A degree qualification or equivalent (e.g. HNC/HND with significant experience) in relevant engineering discipline with typically more than 10 years delivery experience.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry and/ or previous experience with power plants
  • Preferably a Chartered Engineer, or have qualifications leading to Chartered status ;
  • Interpersonal skills that build and maintain effective customer relationships;
  • Deliver tasks effectively both within a team and independently;
  • Possess the ability to plan and manage a portfolio of jobs to time, quality and cost;
  • Drive, energy and commitment with a history of delivering to tight deadlines;
  • Take an innovative approach to problem solving with a flair for continuous improvement;
  • Keen to tackle new problems and not just those they have experienced before;
  • Willing to work flexibly and to work away from home at sites both within the UK and overseas for short and occasionally extended periods of time;
  • Familiarity and experience of complying with standards for steam turbines
  • BPSS minimum security clearance
You possess a high technical standard of written and spoken English (a foreign language skill would be advantageous).
