Work with cross-functional teams responsible for designing and producing exciting new technologies within Vehicle Remanufacturing. You will need to successfully collaborate closely with highly talented engineers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This engineer will support manufacturing activities including: designing test system hardware, diagnosing/troubleshooting electromechanical systems, creating mechanical CAD and electrical schematics, updating existing tooling, provide engineering support to issues on the production line, and develop/coordinate improvements to electromechanical test systems. This engineer must show a proven ability to learn quickly, and pick up skills outside of their comfort zone to support the team where needed.

  • Willing to work in fast-paced, automated factory settings. Must be motivated to learn new skills to support prototype technology development efforts
  • Develop hardware for automated test systems given product specifications and test requirements involving sourcing hardware, designing equipment CAD, building wiring, schematics, assembly instructions, overseeing build, validation and deployment
  • Participate in risk assessments on equipment under development and safety buy-offs for equipment before launch, working closely with automation, equipment development, and safety engineers to ensure all equipment is safe before handing over to production
  • Create maintenance documentation and act as primary point of contact for maintenance team to ensure tooling and equipment downtime is minimized
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and identify opportunities for enhancements to equipment and tooling that improve key metrics of productivity, quality, safety, or cost
  • Act as primary contact for equipment performance related questions and concerns
  • Analyze equipment malfunctions and failures and accordingly develop corrective actions
  • Develop specifications for custom automation equipment to be fabricated by external vendors.

  • B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or Equivalent Field.
  • Strong fundamentals in basic mechanical (materials, stress, mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluids, etc) and electrical concepts are absolutely critical.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing and/or equipment design environment. Experience in test systems strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in creating detailed solid models and drawings in CAD (SolidWorks, Catia is a plus), including designing basic manufacturing tools.
  • Proven ability to develop creative, cost-efficient, and quick-turnaround solutions to mechanical problems , via additive manufacturing and machining.
  • Prior experience with complex mechanical manufacturing systems, including standard factory equipment and basic automation equipment is a plus
  • Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot complex electromechanical systems by way of schematics and other documents
  • Proven ability to debug and methodical approach to problem solving (FMEA, FTA, Fishbone, 6M, RCA, etc). Able to Isolate faults and resolve electrical system malfunctions of varying complexities
  • Strong grasp of electrical engineering techniques, fundamentals, and principles
  • Proficiency in electrical schematics using Altium or AutoCAD Electrical
  • Ability to program in MatLab or Python preferred
  • Familiarity with NI LabVIEW/TestStand and NI hardware preferred
  • Knowledge of basic lab and diagnostic tools such as programmable power supplies, scopes, multimeters, etc.
