Role synopsis
BP's Communications and External Affairs function aims to build BP's reputation by proactively putting toward a clear, concise set of messages supported with powerful proof points to defined target audiences, informed by research insights.

To support this, the Corporate Reporting team develops BP's annual financial and sustainability reporting, as well as oversees the print production of the energy economics publications. These documents are used by investors, governments, regulators, NGOs, the media and other key external groups. Our reports are vital for building trust with these stakeholders, and the content provides a rich source of assets, approved messages and data for use in other communication channels (bp.com, social media and other strategic and local communications within BP). The team manages the BP writing style guide and creates briefing papers for the AGM for executive and board use, as well as externally facing disclosures on key issues.

The Reporting Editor will be writing about BP's environmental and social performance for corporate reporting. The individual will work with internal subject matter experts, develop an understanding external stakeholder concerns and gather proof points to support the internal verification and external assurance process.

Other responsibilities include coordinating the AGM briefs and helping with the research and benchmarking to identify areas for improvement.

Key accountabilities
  • Write sections of the sustainability report and relevant sections in the annual financial report, working closely with internal subject matter experts.
  • Provide editorial and proofreading support, in line with BP's house style, for all sections of the sustainability report.
  • Co-ordinate the AGM brief development process.
  • Assist with content development of externally facing disclosures on key issues related to, but not part of, reporting. Contribute to content development through analysis of media, peer and best practice sustainability reports and stakeholder inputs.

Essential Education
Degree and/or equivalent qualification
