Job Scope:
The Drilling Optimization Engineer is responsible for early detection of drilling hazards and development of recommendations for optimizing drilling operations. In addition to previous drilling and data acquisition experience, the Drilling Optimization Engineer will accomplish this by utilizing pre-determined event fingerprinting, data validation and Well Engineering & Project Management best practices. The position will work closely with the Real-Time Data Analysts, Well Engineers, Drilling Engineers, Completions Engineers and operations personnel to gain a thorough understanding of the well objectives and the daily well activities.
Support Health Safety and Environment by understanding and complying with all company rules and policies. Safety Always - Rules to Live By. 
Monitor and validate real-time data throughout drilling and completion operations for one or more wells. 
R ecogniz e trends in real-time data which relate to improvement opportunities or health of the well and the avoidance of drilling hazards. Identify new trends and fingerprint for future wells.  
Develop daily reports which include essential measured data and descriptions on activities, trends and recommendations for improvements. Identify additional reporting that will be beneficial and ways to streamline the reporting process.  
Collect and apply drilling data (both real-time and recorded), such as but not limited to SPP, torque, RPM, block height and downhole LWD data. 
E nsur e essential personnel have access to real-time information or are informed in a timely manner of improvement opportunities or trends that suggest potential drilling hazards. This will include assisting field operations personnel with data analysis and assist decision making. 
Provide support to operations as required including after-hours support. As an Optimization Engineer II I , this support will be provided at an advanced knowledge level.  
Keep up to date and reviews new data acquisition technology for possible application to project 
Support continuous improvement by using Weatherford systems to circulate information about best practices, lessons learned, technical alerts, etc. 
Carry out work assignments to highest level of quality. 
Skills & Knowledge:
  • Ability and willingness to learn thru a structured development program which includes internal and external courses, external certifications and practical on the job training (both office and field). 
  • Ability to interpret changes in multiple time and/or depth based measurements and how it can be used to recognize improvement opportunities or mitigate hazards. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with diverse professionals comprising of clients, stakeholders, vendors, operations team, rig team and engineering peers. 
  • Contribute to sustaining a positive, progressive and supportive team environment.
  • Advanced understand of fundamentals of drilling practices and procedures 
  •   Advanced understanding of data acquisition systems, measurement devices, data transmission, wellsite data sources, transmission times, etc. 
  • Must have legal authorization to work on a full-time basis in the relevant region
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited University (or diploma/certificate with relevant work experience as described below) 
  • Degree with 4- 7 year related experience; (or 10 + years equivalent experience) 
  • Minimum of 4 years mudlogging, data acquisition or real-time experience. 
  • Must be willing to travel to remote land and offshore work locations and possibly to other countries. Ability to travel  10 to 20 % annually and work for durations up to 28 days per trip.
