The Brilliant Factory MES (Manufacturing Execution System) Systems Engineer will lead the definition, development, and implementation of a Brilliant Factory MES solution for the Large Airfoil Development Center (LADC) facility. This includes total responsibility for the implementation project and will require partnering with GE Power IT team, production teams, business teams, and supplier partners to create a high impact solution that accelerates learning and drives factory productivity.

Essential Responsibilities

This MES project is a key component of a much larger program to design, construct, install, and deploy factory information systems solutions including ERP, MES, and SCADA.

As the Brilliant Factory MES Systems Engineer you will lead the MES project for the LADC which will require process analysis, business requirements definition, process redesign, solution documentation, data conversion, change management, project management, systems integration, and user community training required for the MES. The MES application will need to provide a variety of functions including shop routing management, part serialization & tracking, mobile user Interface, CNC (Computer Numeric Control) integration, quality data collection, shop order management, labor management and production tracking. While concentrated within the factory, you will also need to work across multiple functional areas, including engineering, finance, sourcing, manufacturing, IT & logistics to drive successful MES implementation.
In addition, you will:
• Drive the completion of all required implementation processes and tollgate steps including requirements gathering, process flow documentation, testing, data validation, training, post go-live support, and other project related activities
• Facilitate business common processes leveraging industry standard processes, minimizing or eliminating need for system customizations, to achieve reliable and repeatable operating results
• Identify and close gaps between desired standard business processes and existing, site-specific processes
• Influence cross-functional stakeholders to integrate business processes, standardize across fulfillment sites, and drive fast decision making to enable an accelerated SCADA implementation schedule
• Work with the process engineering and quality team leaders to identify and deliver process simplification solutions that drive reductions in cost and cycle time as well improved quality
• Build strong partnerships with cross functional team members (i.e. Finance, Information Technology, Engineering, Services & Global Supply Chain) to effectively deliver fully integrated solution that will support efficient, standard, accurate, compliant, and sustainable business processes
• Act as a change agent for business process improvements
• Provide regular updates to the business leadership team on project progress and escalate as necessary to remove issues
• Create a consistent communication rhythm on project status and operational improvements
• Proactively identify and mitigate risks
• Abide by all GE Corporate and local policies and procedures including but not limited to integrity, diversity, proprietary information, conflict of interest, Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)


• Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university with 2 years of experience in ERP or MES design and implementation in an industrial setting
• Ability and willingness to travel (up to 15%)

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

• Experience with one or more of the following products - GE Digital Proficy, GE Digital Brilliant Manufacturing Suite, GE Digital Predix, SAP ME/MI suite
• Strong operational business process knowledge
• Knowledge of the GPS operational businesses processes and systems (i.e. Forecasting, Integrated Planning & Scheduling, Materials Management, Sourcing, Warehousing & Trade Compliance, Manufacturing Execution, Repairs, Parts Fulfillment, & Logistics) (GE Employees Only)
• Knowledge of Oracle, SAP, or other ERP applications with additional hands-on experience
• Knowledge of mobile solutions and technology
• Knowledge in Manufacturing Execution System, routings, shop order management, and quality
• Demonstrated experience in driving change and experienced in CAP (Change Acceleration Process)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, team members, and subject matter experts
• Strong organization, planning, and leadership skills
• Ability to set own action plans and be proactive
• Six Sigma and LEAN Trained
• Able to use Six Sigma and Lean tools and techniques to drive change or equivalent quality tools and techniques
• Ability to think analytically and be an excellent problem solver
• Strong team player who works to make the entire team successful, not bound by strict role description
• Must be a dynamic leader with the ability to respond and pivot to changing priorities and business needs as necessary
