Job Description
Position Overview
This is a lead Generator Service Engineering position and involves the mechanical and electrical analysis/design of generators for purposes of executing service orders, supporting negotiations, supporting field service activities, resolving product issues including Technical Issues & Significant Field Issues, and developing products for operating generators and exciters.  This position will be in Charlotte, NC, and will report to the manager of Technical Integration in Generator Service Engineering.
The primary objective of this position is to resolve product issues including Technical Issues & Significant Field Issues, and to develop products for operating generators and exciters.  Other tasks include providing engineering support to Field Service, Marketing, Operations & Maintenance, Long Term Programs, and Quality organizations, and addressing generator & exciter modernization, maintenance or repair issues.  It requires experience in design and analysis of large rotating machinery, and the ability to communicate technically complex and commercially sensitive information to various internal and external organizations/personnel, and to work closely with Engineering/Drafting/Field Service teams.  The position also requires the ability to analyze and interpret field data from testing and normal operation, make recommendations regarding repairs, modifications, modernizations, and operation of generators/exciters.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Applicant must have excellent project management and communication skills, an understanding of basic financial/accounting concepts and be able to function effectively with different levels of a complex organization. The applicant must also be self-motivated, results-oriented and have a strategic mindset.
An Electrical Engineering degree is required for this position, with 5-8 years of related work experience.  This position will require approximately 10-20% travel, with the majority of travel being in the United States.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
Experience in GENIE, and Root Cause Analysis (Fault Tree, Kempner Trego) are preferred for this position, to support generator design activities.
