Job Description
Position Overview
• Primary responsibility is to design and implement software solutions for Siemens Industrial Automation products using C++ and C#.
• Participate in software design and implementation of simple and complex subsystems.
• Required to estimate own work and to implement to these estimations.
• Participate as part of a project team and perform duties under the guidance of an engineering manager.
• Siemens Industry is a leading provider of micro automation equipment.  The position is within the Digital Factory division and within one of their R&D divisions.
• Excellent collaboration with other project team members is critical.  Team members are both local and within R&D organizations located in Germany.

• Overall responsibility is to turn market requirements and system concepts into software designs.  Required to collaborate with other team members as the design is reviewed and alternative solutions are considered.
• Responsible for estimating the effort behind implementing a proposed software design and to unit test the software modules prior to integrating them into a larger system.
• Participation in international meetings is required to discuss product requirements and collaborate with other developers working on a multi-national project.
• All software project planning is based around a series of increments.  Estimations are used to plan what features will be delivered in each increment. Required to estimate own work and to implement to these estimations.
• During the system test phase issues are tracked using Visual Studio and TFS.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is required.
• Ideal candidate will have 2 - 5 years of software development experience working on large projects as part of a development team.
• On occasion travel is required, • Knowledge of object oriented design principals and terms is required.  
• Ideal candidate has at least 2 years writing software solutions using C++ or C#.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
• Experience with software development on international projects.
• Knowledge of Clear Case, GIT, or other source control systems.
• Previous use of Enterprise Architect for software designs.
