The Network Infrastructure Management Lead will provide expertise in areas of local area and wide area IP-based networks (LAN and WAN). The selected candidate will provide advanced technical analyses of automation challenges and problems; develop/identify technical solutions responsive to the needs of the Command; ensure information exchange and prevent duplication of effort; recommend and provide procedures, policies, and technical solutions to HQ USTRANSCOM C4S challenges. This Lead will participate in the planning and execution of network installations and hardware upgrades and provide a technical point of contact for all matters related to the contractor's C4S efforts.

The Network Infrastructure Management Lead should have the following qualifications and demonstrated experience:
  • At a minimum possess applicable intermediate ITIL certification (e.g., Service Operations, Service Transition, Operational Support and Analysis (OSA))
  • Be a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Have extensive experience managing operational networks in diverse environment
  • Experience with WAN troubleshooting/problem determination skills (Integrated Services Digital network (ISDN), Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Synchronous Optical Network (SONET))
  • Experience management gateways and Domain Name Services (DNS)

It is desired that the Network Infrastructure Management Lead have the following qualifications and demonstrated experience:

  • Network analysis tools (CISCO Network Configuration Manager, CISCO Network Analysis Modules)
  • LAN troubleshooting/problem determination skills (Ethernet, Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
  • CISCO firewall/Virtual Private Network (VPN) equipment, Adaptive Security Appliance, CISCO Aggregation Service Routers (ASR), and Virtual Switching Systems (VSS)
  • IP services, e.g., IP, Multicast, Quality of Service (QOS), and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
This position requires a Bachelors degree with 8 years of related experience or 12 total years of related experience. The following certifications are required:
  • ITIL Intermediate certification in Service Operations, Service Transition, or Operational Support and Analysis (OSA)
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

An active Top Secret Clearance is required.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk (90%). Requires sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time (90%). There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances can sometimes be required.

Work Environment

Inside office/cubicle environment. Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers and all levels of management (100%).

Equipment and Machines

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment (100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or current state of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.


Attendance is critical. Work hours are normally 8 hours per day and 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Being prompt is important to provide continuous and on-going service to customers. Attendance is important to maintain continuity of service. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little as one hour advance notice. Overtime is infrequent, but important when required (1%).

Other Essential Functions

Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to interface with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must be able to obtain and retain a security clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain unescorted access to work areas. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

The following certifications are required:

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
