The New Energy Solutions (NES) business area reflects Equinor's long term goal to complement the oil and gas portfolio with profitable renewable energy and other low-carbon energy solutions. NES aims to do this with the support of Equinor's oil and gas competence, project delivery capabilities and ability to integrate technological solutions. NES's core activities include a growing offshore wind portfolio, a Solar taskforce, operational responsibility for the Technology Centre Mongstad Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) facility, and a portfolio of venture capital investments. NES is organised into 5 business clusters; Ventures (VEN); Strategy and Innovation (SI); Business Development (BD); Wind and Low Carbon Development (WALC); and New Energy Operations (NEO).

Renewable Energy Technology (RET) is one of three technology departments within Wind & Low Carbon Development. The department has resources and competence for technical support to screening and early phase projects with special focus on the electrical, marine structure and marine operations disciplines and shall also have a focus on input to renewable technology strategy and technology development within wind, solar, energy storage and low carbon solutions.

To support Equinor's ambitions within renewable technology it is desirable to strengthen the electro team.

Job Description

Discipline lead for renewable power and energy storage projects, ranging from power production asset to grid connection point.

Early phase project support for;
Design of HV export systems.
Planning of and follow up of external studies for the design and development of electrical systems
Perform cable system selection and dimensioning criteria

Provide Technical Due Diligence for electrical assets.

Support technology development of electrical systems.

Advise upon and mature new ideas and initiatives relating to cost reduction of electrical systems.

Coordination and collaboration with other internal and external stakeholders for new developments.

Participation and representation in industry work groups, task forces, committees, and project teams.

Provide input to grid connection applications and grid code compliance activities.


M Eng. degree within electrical/electronic engineering. Extensive industrial experience, with renewable experience as an advantage

Competence in medium and high voltage design, with experience in;
HVAC and HVDC transmission technologies
Energy storage and it's integration
Cable design and installation
Power quality
Ancillary services

Experience in power systems analysis

Relevant experience may compensate for formal qualifications
