Job Description
We are currently hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the development of SPECT image reconstruction software for SPECT/CT scanners.
The candidate will report to the Director of Reconstruction Software for Molecular Imaging and will be located in Hoffman-Estates/Illinois.
The position will require about 10% travel.


The selected candidate will be responsible for requirement analysis, detailed specification, design, implementation, documentation and test
of software components for SPECT and SPECT/CT examinations. This includes SPECT data correction and reconstruction algorithms.
He/she will collaborate with his Software Engineering colleagues as well as others involved in the development of SPECT software products, such
as Product Management, Project Management, Systems Engineering, SW Test, Science & Technology, and HW Engineering.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

Qualified candidates must have a good understanding of modern software development processes requiring technical
skills in the following areas: C++, Windows 7, Parallel Programming with CPUs and GPUs, MS Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server.
An important part of the work is to closely collaborate with S&T during the development of new algorithms, and bring those from
research over into the product. Therefore a good understanding of the mathematics and physics involved in those algorithms is essential.

Skills and experience of a qualified candidate include:
- knowledge about data correction and image reconstruction in SPECT, PET, CT or MRI
- knowledge about mathematics and physics involved in medical imaging
- experience in numerical algorithms and code optimization
- experience in modern SW development processes like Agile, iterative development, test driven development
- ability to work successfully in international teams
- analytical thinking
- good communication skills in verbal and written form

Candidates must have at least a Masters degree in Computer Science, Physics or similar field and 4-6 years experience in numerical algorithms, high-performance
computing or medical imaging. A scientific background (e.g. Ph.D.) in those areas or prior experience in SPECT image reconstruction is preferred.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

- experience in complex image processing and image registration algorithms
- experience in GPU programming (CUDA, Thrust or OpenCL)
- experience in CPU parallel programming (OpenMP, Boost or TBB)
- experience in Matlab
- experience in developing medical software in a FDA regulated environment
