Main Purpose of Job: Support the Controlling Manager on the activities of the Margin Controlling department covering both the main thermal and Cogeneration plants. Play a key part in providing the Head of Corporate Controlling and other senior stakeholders with support and challenge in delivery of departmental KPI targets

Principal Accountabilities: Support and challenge the performance of Margin Controlling through the combination of financial analysis and commercial knowledge. Facilitate discussion and decision outcomes through the management of meetings and the provision of concise, well presented decision support analysis.

Lead and develop the Performance Management process to support Generation GM, to provide an in-depth view of future expected performance in line with expectations.

Facilitate and own the process by which the implications of availability and market price movements are understood across the Generation .

Provide financial control over the activities within the Generation GM. Work collaboratively with the Planning and Reporting teams as well as the wider controlling teams to ensure the accurate messaging of the margin story.

Develop strong working relationships with the business fostering an environment for openness and challenge.

Provide input into the target setting process to support the Head of Corporate Controlling and Head of CAO UK in agreeing appropriate targets for Generation GM. Facilitate and co-ordinate the quarterly refresh of the Gross Margin forecast and 10 year MTP process .

Provide support into key projects ensuring accurate and timely determination and validation of gross margin impacts.

Problem Solving/Complexity:

Understanding the forecasting of future GM and future hedging decisions within Generation GM.

Clear understanding of the overall trade-offs between all elements of the value chain to ensure that implications within Generation GM are clearly identified.

Operate a framework that provides a measure of whether the required value has been added within the Generation GM.

Knowledge and Skills: Qualified Accountant or equivalent (ACA / CIMA / ACCA / MBA) with 5years+ PQE experience, preferably within a utility / energy market business.

Proven leadership skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders within financial and commercial roles to consider key financial requirements of the business.

Strong analytical skills with an ability to deal with complex transactions / commercial issues.

Strong process orientation, with an ability to design and deliver robust reporting frameworks.
