The Sr IT Director - SAP ERP Operations Leader drives all operations efforts which mainly pertain to application support L2 and L3 and is responsible to ensure stable and secure operations in the SAP platform for the Gas, Steam and Services GE Power business. He/She will work closely with the CTO organization and P&L IT organizations to deliver services in accordance to the agreed SLA's.

Essential Responsibilities

The Sr IT Director - SAP ERP Operations Leader is accountable to ensure operational excellence in a strategic ERP platform with 27k current users and projected to on-board another 15k users in the upcoming 3 years.
As the IT Director - SAP ERP Operations Leader, you will:
  • Define and agree Service Level Agreement's (SLA) in alignment with Centre of Excellence (CoE) Management and with business
  • Be responsible for support level 2 and 3 (ITIL) on both Functional and Development, monitor and report operations Key Performance Indicator's (KPI)
  • Work with business relationship managers in Profit and Loss' (P&L) to continuously monitor performance and to define continuous service improvement plan
  • Initiate functional or hierarchical escalations, as required
  • Ensure that SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution is secure in accordance with GE standards
  • Be responsible to provide scalable infrastructure services that are secure and reliable in partnership with the GE Power Chief Technology Officer (CTO) organization
  • Be responsible for planning and execution of regression and performance tests in alignment with the release strategy
  • Be responsible for budget and forecast in operations
  • Possess the experience in working with multiple 3rd party suppliers to steer performance and best value to cost
  • Expertise negotiating and managing professional and managed service agreements
  • Align the delivery model and sourcing with the strategy
  • Strong leadership competencies with experience building, coaching, and mentoring teams
  • Successful history of leading organizational change management and change acceleration initiatives
  • Demonstrate capability influencing peers and executives to drive complex change initiatives
  • Expertise in enterprise risk management and abatement
  • Demonstrate success developing and executing strategic direction at the departmental / cross-departmental level
  • Working knowledge of contemporary IT landscape both technically and process perspectives
  • Lead a team of ~100 professionals as well as connection with the full matrix ERP team


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

    Additional Eligibility Qualifications

    Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledgeable of standard IT processes (e.g. ITIL)
  • Multi-year experience in global distributed environments
  • Experience in running IT operations factories
  • Good knowledge of GE P&W/Alstom process landscape
  • Strong ERP operational background and large systems support
  • Master's in Business Administration (MBA)
  • ITIL Expert certification or similar
  • PMP certification
  • GE Fastworks Coach or similar experience/certification
  • Considerable leadership ability with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Considerable large scale SAP ERP project experience
  • Significant proven experience in large ERP deployments
  • Significant leadership of Global IT Project Management featuring large multi-phase, multi-year programs and projects and using commonly acknowledged frameworks and tool sets
