Bridge Rehabilitation Engineer-Edmonton, Alberta:


Bridge Rehabilitation Engineer: inspection, condition assessment, report writing, assess rehab concepts and methods with life cycle cost analysis, tender preparation, project management.


  • PM bridge Rehab projects through preliminary engineering to construction and post construction
  • Understand bridge deterioration processes
  • Understand structural and maintenance repair materials and methods,
  • Understand bridge inspection systems and processes
  • Apply structural engineering design/analysis skills
  • Develop rehabilitation strategies (understand methods and materials)
  • Bridge asset management (bridge inspection, condition assessment and bridge rehabilitation).  
  • Daily activities include selecting standard bridge engineering/design procedures, developing structural rehabilitation details
  • Review vendor drawings to assure compliance with specifications
Gather and record information to be used for writing specifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • 8-12 years progressively responsible technical experience designing and rehabilitating structures for transportation projects
  • Experience as Structural Engineer on bridge and structures design for rural, urban highway and municipal transportation projects is preferred
  • Experience in bridge rehabilitation, condition assessment
  • Recent experience with Alberta Transportation (AT) projects
  • Experience with City of Edmonton/ City of Calgary projects
  • Self-motivated professional with demonstrated expertise in design tools and analysis
  • Familiarity with Canadian Bridge Code CSA6 preferred
  • Experience in preparation of plans, specifications, quantities and cost estimates for construction contracts
  • Ability to support project manager in client meetings and presentations and working with various external stakeholders including utility companies and regulatory agencies
  • Experience in working effectively as a Structural Engineer in developing bridge rehab designs from concept, through preliminary and detailed design, including report writing, life cycle cost
  • Possesses excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Able to independently evaluate, select and apply engineering techniques and procedures to successfully complete transportation planning and design projects,
  • Ability and interest to engage with clients and contribute to client relationships and business development activities
  • Ability to guide and mentor project staff, and undertake quality checks and reviews.
  • Ability to manage the assigned tasks, budgets and schedules

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering,
  • Master’s degree in structural engineering or material engineering is an asset
  • Alberta Transportation Class A, Class B certification, and or OSIM, NACE certification is an asset 
  • Must be a P.Eng, or able to qualify in Alberta and BC.

    Valid working visa for Canada
