Role description

Reporting to the site crafts-team supervisor, the Electrical Crafts Person (NAECI Grade 5) will be responsible for fault diagnosis, maintenance and repair of Electrical Equipment across all areas of plant as well as carrying out operational support activities on this 5-unit, 2199 MW CCGT power station. Working in an efficient and proactive manner, in accordance with Company safety rules and procedures, you will require minimal Supervision. This is primarily a day working role but you must be prepared to provide cover outside normal working hours and to work shifts if required. You should be aware that the role includes working in confined spaces, at heights and in all weathers.

You will provide a full range of maintenance services, but not limited to Carrying out fault diagnosis, repairs, condition monitoring and planned maintenance (PMs) on Generators, Actuators, Motors, Switchgear (HV/LV), Battery/DC Systems and as required small power and lighting.

The successful candidate will: Ensure the Power Station is a safe place to work and actively contribute to its safe, efficient and cost-effective running

Be responsible for the quality of your own work, recording of activities carried out, via the stations computerised work management system (PRISM) and making recommendations for future activities

Ensure that all safety and environmental issues are reported immediately

Ensure that all work Orders are closed within working day of completion, with quality feedback to build plant history

The successful applicant will ideally have: A proven track record in heavy electrical maintenance across a range of electrical equipment.

A minimum of NVQ level 3 in electrical engineering and the ability to demonstrate experience in heavy electrical maintenance.

Demonstrable experience on electrical equipment associated with heavy industry, including motors, switchgear (upto 22kv), actuators, battery and DC systems, hazardous area equipment, general electrical installations and fault/investigation diagnostics

At least five years relevant experience

Competence in the use of basic IT systems

A high degree of self-reliance, self-motivation and self confidence

The ability to make decisions in a pressurised environment

Excellent communication skills

The ability to develop good working relationships with those at all levels within the organisation
