The Technical Publications Developer creates product and service documentation for end users, external and internal clients. The Technical Publications Developer will coordinate the development of templates, formats, process improvements, and will work with other document services team members to ensure that those improvements are implemented.

Essential Responsibilities

• Develop/author new Operation and Maintenance manual content for existing systems and/or new products.
• Liaise with lead writer team members re: appropriate manual content.
• Source out information from Product Managers for existing and new products.
• Disseminate information, on a regular basis, to members of off-shore team to ensure quality standards are met.
• Analyze and resolve chronic issues/critical errors with processes and templates.
• Create client-focused electronic documentation, including on-line help and website development to allow ease of access to information.
• Remain current with developing trends in publishing tools.
• Investigate potential process improvements.
• Streamline existing processes with an eye to cost reduction and quality improvement.
Position will be based in Oakville ON

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in English, Technical Writing, Journalism or a similar field or Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of Technical Writing or Journalism
  • MUST Demonstrated proficiency in the following: MadCap Flare Authoring Suite, Microsoft Office, Adobe Framemaker, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Proven ability to work independently and in teams
  • Experience with user interface design and usability testing
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, presentation skills and technical communication skills
  • Previous project or team leadership experience; demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience managing documentation projects
