Essential Responsibilities

As the Crane and Elevator Generalist, you will:
  • Hitch, move and erect a variety of mechanical and electrical equipment, facilities, parts, assemblies, etc.
  • Change crane cables, hooks, etc. Inspect crane, elevator and lifting cables, blocks, hooks, undercarriages, running ropes, etc. for mechanical damage
  • Hold and keep current a 36 weld certification
  • Operate equipment such as scooters, scissors lifts, JLG type lifts, fork trucks, and winch trucks
  • Diagnose the problem or improper operation of the equipment, mechanically, hydraulically, and electrically including radio control, motor drives and PLC controls
  • Obtain necessary tools, supplies, and spare parts required
  • Repair simple parts that may require 'drilling, reaming, turning, milling, polishing, etc.
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks and services including inspection of crane, elevators and lifting cables, blocks, hooks, running ropes, all below hook lifting devices, etc. for mechanical damage
  • Perform alignment procedures of gearboxes, shafting, couplings, pulleys etc.
  • Perform all functions of confined space entry, Supervisor, Attendant, and Entrant

    Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in an Electrical or Mechanical discipline (OR High School Diploma / GED with a Military Advanced Electronic Training Course, eg. Navy FC or ET)
    Eligibility Requirements:
  • Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment, for example safety glasses, gloves, hats, and safety shoes
  • Ability and willingness to work in a tobacco-free environment
  • Ability and willingness to lift / push / pull at least 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime as required, with or without reasonable accommodation

    Desired Characteristics

  • Completion of state/federal apprenticeship or Journeyman Fitter
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal direction
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blue prints (or other technical materials)
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret hydraulic schematics
  • Certified in Refrigeration Transition and Recovery and HVAC certification number
