Role description Didcot B CCGT Power Station plays a key role in the UK energy market delivering almost 1500MW of power capability, as well as multiple ancillary services to support the national grid. As part of our recruitment strategy are currently looking to recruit a Shift Operations Technician to join our team in Didcot, Oxfordshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to make a significant contribution and build their experience. In this exciting position you will undertake a wide range of activities both as part of a small integrated shift team and within a close station team environment to ensure the challenges of commercial operation are overcome, and operational milestones are achieved. Highly motivated, with a technical background, you will contribute to the ultimate success of this CCGT power station.

Skills and experience The successful applicant will ideally:

Be able to fully integrate and contribute to a small shift team compliment.

Have experience of process or power plant operations and a recognised technical background, or craft skill in electrical, mechanical, C&I or Operations discipline.

Be competent in the use of applicable business IT systems

Principal Accountabilities: Respond effectively to operational demands, assist in achieving safe and efficient generation, and conduct start up and shut down of plant; within prescribed limits to ensure the process is operated safely at all times.

Identify operation outside of prescribed limits and ensure corrective action is taken.

Operate flexibly and without close supervision within the constraints of competence and authorisation

Participate in fault finding, problems solving, and first line maintenance ensuring that work is carried out to the appropriate standards.

Suggest and promote modifications and Continuous Improvement Initiatives.

Continually review work and processes, and determine whether improvements could be made.

Support teams including Operations, Engineering and Maintenance within the constraints of competence and authorisation

Participate in re-commissioning activities post overhaul

Develop and maintain operational documentation, records and procedures.

Authorisation under the company safety rules to ensure plant and apparatus is safe to be worked on.

This role will involve out of hours working and weekend working in line with the adopted shift pattern.
