Department Overview

The Sourcing organization is the functional lead for the procurementof materials and services at Pacific Gas and Electric Company. The department collaborates with internal clients and suppliers managing $5 billion of annual company spend to develop mutually beneficial total cost solutions for goods and services. The departmentprovides the following services to internal clients: procurement of goods and services, strategic sourcing and cost savings, contract management, supplier relationship management, supplier diversity planning, execution and outreach, compliance management, ongoingprocurement field support and management of the procure to pay cycle.

Position Summary

The Senior Category Lead position develops and manages one or more sourcing spend categories typically up to $250 million and is responsible for effective contractmanagement of all Tier 1 contracts associated with the categories. The Senior Category Lead position develops strategic category plans to optimize cost savings, service excellence, diversity spend and total cost of ownership for the categories. He or she willeffectively influence LOBs, including senior leadership, to achieve understanding, acceptance, and commitment of sourcing strategies. This position works with the Line of Business (LOB) to develop, source, and negotiate major contracts. He or she plays a key role inthe Supplier Relationship Management and Scorecard process.

Qualifications

Minimum:
- 5 years of supply chain or procurement experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required (one year of experience for every one year ofcollege)

Desired:
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree
- Six Sigma, CPSM, or related certificate
- 6 years of work experience in the areas of procurement, sourcing and/or contract management
- Strong interpersonal and relationshipmanagement skills
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Ability to identify and resolve problems and implementation barriers
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills

Responsibilities

- Lead the development of category strategies of low to mediumcomplexity.
- Manage top tier suppliers.
- Lead cross-functional team through strategic sourcing process and development/execution of negotiation strategies for low to medium complexity spend categories.
- Maintain awareness of industry and markettrends through ongoing research.
Conduct and document market research and supplier risk analysis to verify the financial health of existing and potential suppliers.
- Create and maintain category plans.
Develop and sustain mutually beneficialstrategic relationships with tier 1 and 2 suppliers.
- Develop and review performance data with suppliers; work with suppliers to drive ongoing value discovery.
