As the oOEM (other Original Equipment Manufacturer) Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for design, development, and verification requirements & engineering for multiple oOEM Controls. You will provide technical guidance & engineering to the Sales & Commercial teams and to Customers regarding development, application, maintenance and upgrades on non-GE Controls.


Essential Responsibilities

As the oOEM Controls Engineer, will provide recommendations and solutions to support a variety of commercial opportunities including multi year service agreements, prepare and assist with technical proposals (including research, technical description, performance, and cost definition), support the development of new technology, and partner with the oOEM Engineering & Commercial teams to drive total plant solutions for customers.

As the oOEM Controls Engineer, you will:
  • Lead the conceptual design, cross-functional development, and delivery of various controls platforms and solutions
  • Partner with Customers and Commercial teams to develop business opportunities and customer proposals
  • Work with Customers and User Groups to determine what products, upgrades and services are available to meet customer's needs as well as long term performance and product requirements
  • Provide product support, including emergent support, engineering outage processes, and strategic reliability and quality improvements
  • Resolve in-depth, technical issues in non-GE controls technology for customers in an efficient and timely manner
  • Partner with GE Power Services and GE Power Digital in the areas of Monitoring & Diagnostics and Software & Analytics to support remote monitoring and analytics capabilities on non-GE equipment
  • Identify and manage product safety risks
  • Provide mentor-ship and knowledge sharing to the worldwide oOEM Engineering technical community specific to Controls
  • Review customer specifications and ensure offering satisfies requirements and identify exceptions and/or clarifications
  • Identify risk areas and address technical issues inherent with retrofitting non-GE control systems
  • Develop product cost understanding by working with cross functional teams to optimize oOEM offerings
  • Work with Product Line and Sales teams to define strategy for rapid quoting and risk management
  • Partner with design engineering teams, commercial teams, manufacturing, service shops, operations and suppliers to develop and implement technical solutions to meet customer needs and maximize equipment capability
  • Work with GE technologists across Engineering, Global Research, and Advanced Manufacturing to drive differentiating technologies into oOEM offerings that offer advantaged durability and performance and that command a price-premium in the Services marketplace
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations at customer meetings and conferences
  • Promote and contribute to business programs (cost reduction, continuous improvement, workouts, etc.)
  • Communicate fleet & product issues to leadership, engineering teams, commercial teams, and product line leaders
  • Implement initiatives to continuously improve the responsiveness of the section/organization to customer / business needs



Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, 3 of which with Controls

Desired Characteristics

  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of gas turbine controls with demonstrated technical credibility
  • Knowledge of and/or prior experience in Controls Engineering
  • Prior experience working directly with gas turbine customers
  • Experience defining technical programs and design & development of new products and upgrades
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of involving and influencing all levels of GE and customer organizations
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, coaching expertise and success working across internal business functions
  • Prior controls engineering experience
