•Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and follow work-process documentation (Work Orders) in order to cut, shape, and finish metal to make machine precision machining parts and components
•Work as part of a Manufacturing Team of Engineers, Technicians, Specialists, Skilled Trades, etc.

Essential Responsibilities

Set up and operate conventional and numerically controlled metal-cutting machines and equipment including saws, drills, grinders, lathes, and mills; perform bench work, deburring, engraving, marking
Perform work-in-process measuring or checking using specialized and precision tools and equipment
Technical and Professional Knowledge:
• Burnish and Polish surfaces as required
• Work to Tight Tolerances or +/- .0001" Comfortably and with consistency
• Make sketches and rough layouts, setup sheets and document processes
• Participate in Process Planning (machine / tool selection, order of ops, etc.)
• Calculate Machine Settings, Offsets, Conversions, perform appropriate trig calculations as needed.

• Ensure high quality output
• Display Questioning Attitude, Raise Quality Concerns
• Consult with Inspection from start to finish / in process verification
Communication:
• Communicate with colleagues via basic computer applications such as email, Word, Excel etc.
• Provide input/feedback/suggestions as needed.
• Identify Machine problems immediately
Safety
• Identify safety issues and problems
• Take appropriate corrective action
• Strict adherence to Job Safety Hazard Analysis, Canada Labour Code Part II and all Plant Safety Rules/Protocols
• Maintain clean work area
• Perform Preventative Maintenance on Machines, keep lubricated, full of coolant etc.
• Clean Machines as needed

Qualifications/Requirements

• Grade 12 Technical graduate
• Must have current Ontario Certificate of Qualification in either General Machinist 429A or Tool & Die Maker 430A
• Must be able to work safely and produce work of good quality
• Must have the ability/experience to perform Benchwork/Sawing/Drilling/Grinding/Lathe Work and Milling as defined in 429A or 430A Ontario College of Trades Training Standards
• Must have the ability/experience to operate / setup CNC Lathes and Mills, including basic 2.5D G-Code or Conversational programing knowledge
• Must have basic computer skills, email, Word, Excel and Internet Explorer
• Must pass medical to qualify as a Nuclear Energy Worker and successfully pass background clearance
• Possess/successfully obtain forklift operator license and crane operator license > 15 tons

Desired Characteristics

• Ability/experience to perform Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) as defined in 429A or 430A Ontario College of Trades Training Standards an asset
• Advanced CNC or CAM Programming an asset
