EDF Energy is a core part of the EDF Group and is one of the largest energy companies in Europe with key business operations in France, the UK, Germany and Italy. In the UK we have approximately 15,000 employees. We are the UK's leading generator and supplier of low carbon energy. We produce about one-fifth of the nation's electricity from our nuclear, coal and gas power stations, wind farms, and combined heat and power plants. We have a focus on safe, dependable energy generation and an ethos of service excellence. We intend to play a leading role in new nuclear build in the UK and secure a 'bright' future for the combined business and its employees.

Generating electricity is a huge responsibility, which is why we want experienced engineers to help us deliver this. From nuclear power stations to coal, gas and renewables, our work extends to the full energy mix. The roles we offer within each of those areas are every bit as diverse. At EDF Energy, we're on a journey to change the way people use energy for generations to come. Producing low carbon energy is what we do best. And right now, our eight existing nuclear sites generate 9,000 megawatts per year through various reactors, avoiding emissions of over 40m tonnes of carbon dioxide. That's the equivalent of taking about 60% of cars off our roads. Our thermal generation assets are our Cottam and West Burton stations. With almost 45 years of generation, our coal stations still have an important role to play - together with our new Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) and Gas Storage Plants supporting an affordable and secure supply of electricity as the UK transitions to a low carbon economy. Our plan now is to secure strategic flexibility and maximise the long-term value of thermal energy within the EDF Energy portfolio.

Taking on a real job at a junior level, you'll have the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience under the guidance of highly skilled and experienced colleagues. Most of what you learn will be on the job, with support from your mentor and the teams you work in. Some industrial placements come with opportunities for further technical training as needed. You'll be based at one of our Nuclear Power Stations or one of our offices across the UK. Placements are available at: - Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station - placements suitable for engineering or science degree disciplines. - Torness Nuclear Power Station - placements suitable for engineering or science degree disciplines. - Dungeness B Nuclear Power Station - placements suitable for science, technical or engineering degree disciplines. - Hartlepool Nuclear Power Station - placements suitable for science and engineering degree disciplines. - Heysham 1&2 Power Stations - placements suitable for engineering, science and health and safety management disciplines. - Hunterston Nuclear Power Station - placements suitable for engineering disciplines. - Hinkley Point B Nuclear Power Station - placements suitable for Maths, Engineering or Physics disciplines. - Barnwood Office - placements suitable for science (including environmental), geography, engineering, maths, electronics and computer science disciplines. It's worth noting that we don't offer relocation help for Industrial Placements. So if the placement you're applying for isn't in your local area, you'll need to be able to cover the cost of moving to and living there yourself.

The successful candidate will have good communication skills, and demonstrate a willingness to learn. They will have an ability to interact within a team environment, display professionalism within a work setting and have both a questioning and challenging attitude. Of key importance is a willingness to get involved with various tasks, and provide support as required.
