Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a 1-year contract in Calgary.
The position is responsible for providing a Subject Matter Expertise level of support to all of the company's projects and existing operating assets on Piping, Pressure Vessels, and associated equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and maintain technical specifications and standards related to Mechanical Equipment.
- Support maintenance and administration of the corporate AML as applicable.
- Interface with Project Managers, other design disciplines, and EPCM’s to execute assigned engineering work;
- Provide direction and oversight to engineering activities performed by EPCM’s in respect to mechanical equipment.
- Review technical documents such as: engineering drawings (including assembly drawings, isometrics, vessel drawings, pump/compressor drawings, seal drawings, etc.)
- Approval of critical documents such as Bid Lists, Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations, calculations, etc to support procurement.
- Thoroughly understand the design, installation, and fabrication of mechanical equipment in industrial gas plants
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Junior Engineers as required.
- Perform design review, design verification, and authentication for the design and engineering work done by others.
- Perform shop/field walk-downs during construction/fabrication phases
- Providing technical advice on design processes or construction methods
- Advises on the development of new engineering methods and participates in short and long-range planning
- Ensure construction and field modifications meet the requirements of all applicable codes, standards, and regulations
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will be well-organized, energetic, and service-oriented with the following qualifications:
- University Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta.
- 15+ years of engineering experience in delivering projects and/or providing operational support
- Thorough understanding of standard engineering methods, technologies, and computerized design techniques
- Have an in depth understanding of applicable regulatory requirements in North America.
- Strong understanding of applicable piping and equipment regulations such as those from ABSA, CSA, AER, etc.
- Extensive experience with ASME, API, MSS, NACE, and ASTM codes and standards
- Experience in pressure boundary work, including pressure vessel design, analysis, non-destructive examination, and design registration
- Experience in Piping Stress Analysis principles, methods, and software applications is an asset
- Experience in integrity assessment and repair methods is an asset
- Oklahoma Professional Engineer License would be an asset
