Senior Civil Designer

Purpose of the Role: 

The Senior Civil/Structural Designer is responsible for developing and reviewing advanced civil and structural design drawings, 3D models, and related deliverables in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and company procedures. The role provides technical support to engineers, leads the preparation of complex design packages, and ensures that all outputs are accurate, constructible, and aligned with client expectations. In addition to producing high-quality deliverables, the Senior Designer mentor’s designers and graduates, supports resource coordination, and assists in resolving technical issues during project execution. The position contributes to maintaining design quality, efficiency, and innovation. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop/review detailed drawings, 3D models, and design deliverables in accordance with project requirements, schedule and technical requirements. 

  • 3D model development in accordance with standards and procedures. 

  • May be appointed as sub-lead or area lead over a small group of personnel, involving guidance and instruction on work methods and checking finished work. 

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and international standards and regulations. 

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to designers and graduates. 

  • Occasional site visits. 

Qualifications / Skill Set: 

  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Drafting 

  • 10+ years of experience in civil/structural design 

  • Expertise in buildings, structural, infrastructure and foundation design  

  • Conversant with relevant codes and specifications, and drafting standards. 

  • Familiarity with architectural work for plant buildings. 

  • Knowledge of plant requirements. 

  • Good communication and teamwork skills 

  • Advance proficiency in 3D model software e.g. SP3D, TEKLA
