Job Title: Piping Superintendent

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Piping Superintendent to oversee and manage all piping-related construction activities on-site in Sohar, Oman. This role is critical to ensuring that piping works are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You will lead a team of supervisors and subcontractors, coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety, Environment & Security (SHES)
- Prioritize safety and follow company Golden Rules.
- Attend mandatory HSE and QA training sessions.
- Lead and motivate teams to uphold safety standards.
- Enforce company expectations regarding safety, quality, and conduct.
- Implement SHES policies and support audits and inspections.
- Ensure all temporary works are approved.
- Review and approve Work Method Statements (WMS) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA) in collaboration with SHES personnel.
Quality Control
- Ensure subcontractors follow all relevant quality control plans and procedures.
- Participate in and support QC audits and surveillance activities.
- Ensure timely closure of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Monitor implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
Engineering Coordination
- Manage technical and engineering queries within the piping discipline.
- Ensure proper control and use of technical documentation.
- Notify the client of any technical deviations and field design modifications.
- Ensure subcontractors work with the latest approved design documents.
- Liaise with field engineering for prompt resolution of queries.
Construction Management
- Promote skill development among Omani nationals.
- Ensure project piping objectives are met safely, efficiently, and profitably.
- Coordinate with SHES, Quality, and other departments to maintain high standards.
- Review labor, material, and equipment needs for piping works.
- Monitor subcontractor schedules and costs; drive corrective actions as needed.
- Participate in weekly progress meetings and maintain communication with client representatives.
- Manage work transitions between subcontractors and ensure timely material delivery.
- Monitor labor levels and trade composition; recommend improvements.
- Handle correspondence and documentation within the piping discipline.
Commercial & Contractual Support
- Assist in resolving subcontractor commercial issues.
- Identify and notify back charges and insurance claims.
- Issue field instructions and support change orders and progress valuations.
- Consider financial implications of instructions to subcontractors to minimize costs.
Additional Expectations
- Participate in Weekly Mass Toolbox Talks (TBT).
- Join Daily Task Instruction sessions once a week.
- Submit two Safety Observation Cards (SOC) per week.
- Take part in Weekly Area Leadership Team (ALT) Walk-Throughs.
- Annual performance evaluations will be conducted.
