Primary objective
- Responsible to work as Mechanical Engineer – Rotating, assigned to a project as a key member of the design team. Able to work as an Engineer on assigned project as directed by Department Manager.
- To undertake Mechanical engineering design work in accordance with Safety and Sustainability, both in design detail and engineering design execution
- To be innovative in design work with due regard to minimisation of cost whilst maintaining technical integrity
- To undertake all work within the estimated man hour budget and within schedule
- To give any necessary technical assistance to other design groups assigned to the project and ensure adequate flow of design information with other design groups
- To observe ethics and confidentiality
- To identify and suggest corrective action for any non-conformities to the quality assurance for both system and contract
- To ensure contract documents and correspondences are filed according to project procedure
- To actively look for value plus items that could be recorded
Specific Accountabilities
- To provide definition of the Mechanical engineering – Rotating work in the Project, design approach or criteria by skill and experience.
- To clearly understand the International Codes, Standards and Local Regulations applicable to the work carried out and raise deviations where necessary
- Capable of producing Equipment List for all Rotating Equipment Packages and provide inputs to the Main Equipment List.
- Provide inputs to weight control report for weights of rotating equipment and packages including final as -weighed weights from vendors.
- Prepare specifications and data sheets for Rotating Equipment Packages including process pumps (API and non-API), Centrifugal Process Gas compressors, Reciprocating Gas compressors, Gas Turbine Generators, Fire Water Pumps, Instrument Air Compressors etc
- Prepare RFQ’s, Technical Bid Evaluation and Vendor Data Review of the above Rotating Equipment packages.
- Act as the overall package Engineer for all Rotating equipment packages mentioned above including collecting inputs from other disciplines such as Process, Instrumentation, Piping, Structural, Electrical, Safety & Loss prevention etc to ensure all aspects of the package are incorporated in the RFQ, TBE and Vendor data
- Prepare Inspection and Test Plans for all packages
- Develop FAT and SAT procedures for Mechanical packages
- Carry out Driver Selection Study if required for turbines and compressors
- Responsible for maintaining work progress (budget, schedule) and raising change documentation where necessary.
- Ensure all documentation within the scope of their responsibility is prepared, checked, reviewed and approved in accordance with the Working Instructions for that project
- Supervision of technical detail, budget and schedule of Mechanical design in Project work, where requested by the Lead Mechanical Engineer
- Liaison with client, vendors and outside parties in a professional manner
- To plan manhour budgets and schedules for all Projects within the focal point area of responsibility.
- To liaise with the equivalent client focal point on technical and engineering matters
- Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the Project.
- Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the Project. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
Knowledge / Experience / Competencies Required
- Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical packages for Offshore Oil & Gas projects for FEED and Detailed engineering of FPSO topsides module.
- A good working knowledge of the codes and standards relating to the oil and gas industry particularly the API recommended practices and ASME pressure vessel codes
