Job Summary
We are seeking a Junior Field Specialist to support daily field operations in the Carlsbad, NM area. This role involves hands-on work with oil and gas production equipment, assisting with preventative maintenance, monitoring well performance, troubleshooting mechanical systems, and ensuring safe, efficient operations across lease sites.
Ideal candidates will have a mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in remote field environments.
Key Responsibilities

Monitor and inspect wells, tank batteries, separators, compressors, and other production equipment

Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor mechanical repairs

Collect production data and report anomalies to field supervisors or engineers

Identify and report equipment malfunctions, leaks, and safety concerns

Assist with startup/shutdown of wells and daily optimization of production systems

Operate vehicles and equipment safely across lease roads and rugged terrain

Support environmental and safety compliance activities, including spill response and documentation

Communicate with team members, contractors, and control center staff to ensure smooth operations

Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and emergency response drills

Maintain accurate records of production data, maintenance logs, and safety inspections
Basic / Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED (technical training or trade certifications a plus)

1–3 years of experience in field operations or oilfield maintenance

Basic mechanical knowledge of pumps, valves, tanks, compressors, etc.

Familiarity with HSE standards and practices in the oil and gas industry

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs

Willingness to travel locally within the Carlsbad field area

Must pass pre-employment background and drug screening
Qualifications

Prior experience as a Lease Operator, Field Technician, or similar role in upstream operations

Understanding of artificial lift systems and tank battery operations

Familiarity with production reporting systems or handheld field data tools

Basic troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems

Safety certifications such as H2S, PEC, or First Aid/CPR
