DLA: Warehouse Specialist (Hazardous Material)
Job Summary
The Warehouse Specialist (Hazardous Material) supports the Distribution Center’s mission to manage and execute efficient logistics operations including receiving, storage, inventory, packaging, COSIS, stock control, issue processing, packing, shipping, and distribution of contingency materials for both DLA wholesale and Army SSA retail operations. This role specializes in handling hazardous materials and ensures compliance with all applicable safety and transportation regulations.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Receive, issue, and prepare hazardous materials for shipment in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Use Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other Government Data Systems to perform tasks outlined in the Performance Work Statement (PWS).
- Resolve common error conditions and respond to system instructions.
- Follow standard operating procedures for hazardous material handling and warehousing.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and Defense Transportation Regulation (DTR) requirements.
- Maintain safety and regulatory standards during all hazardous material operations.
Basic Qualifications
- Capability and training to handle hazardous materials in a warehouse environment.
- Experience using WMS or equivalent systems to manage inventory and transactions.
- Familiarity with standard warehousing procedures and documentation.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of the following certifications prior to full performance:
- OSHA Compliance Training
- Hazardous Materials Preparer Certification (DTR Part II, Cargo Movement, Chapter 204-7)
- DLAI 4145.3 – Preparing Hazardous Material for Military Air Shipment
- DLAI 1307 – HAZMAT Training for Packaging and Transportation Personnel
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience handling hazardous materials in a logistics or military setting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict safety protocols.
