Construction Supervisor

One of our major clients is looking for a Construction Supervisor to join their team on a 1-year contract in Kitimat, BC.





Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the safe delivery of the project in field.

  • Responsible for the quality execution of the works on the field to meet standards and scope.

  • Assists the project manager in planning the project both in pre-execution (in Feasibility) and during execution stage.

  • Assists Project Managers in reviewing the project deliverables prior commencing the execution of the project.

  • Assists Project Managers in reviewing the project schedules prior commencing and during the execution of the project.

  • Collects and maintains records to support the Project Manager assessment of all claims involving cost, quality, and time.

  • Support the HSE Coordinator in incident investigations.

  • Supports Project Managers in evaluating and selecting contractors and suppliers for the project.

  • Monitors construction activities to ensure these meet technical specifications and requirements.

  • Ensures controls and processes are implemented throughout the execution of the works. These includes daily/weekly reports, schedule lookaheads, contractor resourcing plan, rash maps among many other available tools to monitor the progress of the works.

  • Reviews Contractor’s Execution Plan, including Work Methodologies, Safety Management Plans,

  • Risk Assessment, mitigation plan among others contractual deliverables.

  • Reviews project schedules and flag discrepancies/variances to the approved plan to the Project Manager and Construction Coordinator.

  • Participates in design and constructability reviews.

  • Participates in Project Risk Assessments (PSRA’s), Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP’s), Hazard Identification Study (HAZID’s) and Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA’s).

  • Reviews and acknowledges (by signing on) daily work permits, JHA’s and any other field documentation to ensure controls are in place to enable works to be completed safely.

  • Receives, validates, and communicate all daily progress updates.

  • Assess works and daily progress updates.

  • Conducts daily site HSE Inspections and Leadership in the Field activities.

  • Facilitates contractor’s onboarding including inductions and training requirements.

  • Review monthly progress claims.

  • Identifies defective works and raises Non-Conformance Reports (NCR's).

  • Participates in punchlist walkdowns and ensures these are formalized, monitored and closed

  • Reviews and monitor project QA/QC control plan, pre-operational verification, Commissioning and Acceptance Test procedures.

  • Reviews quality/Manufacturer Data Report (MDR)/turnover documentation including redline markup drawings.

  • Reviews and sign off ITPs on a regular basis as required. Ensure remaining parties sign-off in the required areas.

  • Coordinates day to day works on the field.

  • Manages Commissioning Vendors when onsite conducting commissioning activities.

  • Coordination with operations during commissioning activities.

  • Oversees training activities during commissioning activities.

  • Supports Operations ramp-up activities during ramp-up/performance testing activities.

  • Coordinates permits and isolations with the operations team together with the contractor for the execution of the works. Construction Supervisors are to provide governance to the works meaning they are to review, and final approve the permits issued by Operations.

  • Participates in Level 2 Risk Assessments (L2RA’s) with the Project Manager and contractor during mobilization and updates during the lifecycle of project.

  • Review the Contractor Execution Plan, Training Matrix, ensure chemicals are approved in the Safety Datasheet database to use on site, and any other authorizations and competencies prior allowing works to start.

  • Coordinates contractors and vendor mobilization activities including inductions, licenses, and equipment mobilization.

  • Inform of potential variations or changes to the scope with or without consultation from the Contractor (as result of field works) to the Project Manager.

  • Reviews, approves and process daily/weekly progress reports from the contractor.

  • Reviews and approves daily timesheets for daily works or time and materials type of contracts.

  • Coordinates site establishment activities, including site offices, laydowns and others required facilities.

  • Reviews and approves work methodologies and changes during construction.

  • Ensures and monitors contractors plans and schedules, labour and equipment allocation to ensure the efficient execution of the works.

  • Monitors performance and takes corrective actions as necessary to meet objectives and communicates to the Project Manager and Construction Coordinator.

  • Ensures changes to the project scope are escalated to the Project Manager and Construction Coordinator.

  • Reviews and facilitates the approval of temporary works activities to enable the project works to proceed such as access ramps, scaffolding (including approval from required supporting groups).

  • Facilitates areas handovers and partial handovers between different groups.

  • Completes a daily report noting the works of the days, number of contractors and any other critical details to support the Project Manager in managing the works.

  • Organizes handover to Operations final walkdown.

  • Participate in kick off, toolbox and daily safety pre-stats meetings.






Essential Skills, Experience, and Qualifications



  • Trade certificate or tertiary qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical discipline.

  • At least 10+ construction supervision experience in a heavy industry sector

  • Proven experience as a Construction Supervisor in a heavy industry sector.

  • Extensive experience in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to handle challenges that may arise during construction.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Project, Excel and Outlook. ? Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Drive construction activities by finding alternative works and optimized solutions are implemented to meet project and client requirements.

  • Proven analytical problem-solving skills relating to scheduling performance and reporting.
