We're seeking a skilled Applications Engineer II to support a Chemical Plant, focusing on PLC-based control system design and programming to enhance operational efficiency.

Role Overview

• Design, develop, and implement PLC-based control systems for industrial automation projects.
• Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC systems.
• Coordinate PLC programming with HMI programmers and electrical design.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to define control system requirements.
• Perform system integration, commissioning, and startup support.
• Conduct control system testing, including loop checks and I/O verification.
• Maintain and update existing control systems for improved performance.
• Document control system architecture, programming logic, and operational procedures.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
• Recommend hardware for new systems based on performance and compatibility.
• Identify hazards or required repairs in alignment with site standards.
• Develop and implement shutdown logic using Cause & Effect matrices.

Skills & Qualifications

• Proficiency in PLC programming, including ladder logic, function block, and structured text.
• Knowledge of industrial networking protocols: Ethernet/IP, Modbus/RTU, Profibus, ProfiNet, OPC-UA, MQTT.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret programming documentation and electrical schematics.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel for onsite support and commissioning.

Education & Experience

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Control System Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with major PLC platforms: Allen-Bradley (ControlLogix, MicroLogix, SLC), Siemens (S7, Simatic 545/555), GE (Rx3i).
• 5+ years of experience in PLC programming and industrial automation.
• Experience with Instruments LabView (cRIO, cDAQ, PXI, SCXI series) and KOYO / Automation Direct (DirectLogic) is .
• Certifications such as ISA CAP or TÜV Functional Safety are advantageous.
