Job Description
【Position Summary】
We are seeking an experienced Studio Engineer to join our Munich-based satellite design studio for a leading Chinese automotive manufacturer. The successful candidate will serve as the technical bridge between creative design and engineering feasibility, ensuring that concept and production-intent designs meet styling intent, package constraints, and manufacturing requirements.
This role requires a deep understanding of automotive design processes, excellent CAD skills, and the ability to work across cultures with design teams in Munich and engineering/manufacturing teams in China.
【Key Responsibilities】
1. Design Feasibility & Integration
- Evaluate design proposals for feasibility, compliance with regulations, and adherence to brand DNA.
- Integrate package data, ergonomic requirements, and technical constraints into the design process.
- Support the development of surfaces (Class A) to achieve design intent while ensuring manufacturability.
2. Technical Support to Designers
- Provide engineering input during the creative development of interior, exterior, and CMF (, materials, finish) projects.
- Work with designers to resolve packaging, ergonomics, and production challenges without compromising aesthetics.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, sections, and engineering documentation.
3. 3D Data Management
- Build and manage CAD models in alignment with studio and engineering standards.
- Manage data exchanges between the Munich studio and headquarters in China.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of digital data between creative and technical teams.
4. Cross-Cultural & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a liaison between the Munich studio and Chinese engineering/manufacturing teams.
- Support prototype builds, design reviews, and presentations.
- Participate in supplier discussions and technical reviews when required.
5. Project Support
- Support the build of physical models (clay, hard, and prototype parts) by providing technical input and CAD data.
- Ensure engineering input is aligned with the project timeline and deliverables.
【Qualifications】
1. Essential
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design Engineering, or similar.
- 5+ years’ experience as a Studio Engineer in an automotive design environment (OEM or Tier 1).
- Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 or Alias (Class A surfacing knowledge desirable).
- Strong understanding of automotive packaging, regulations, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication skills in English; ability to collaborate effectively with international teams.

- German skills.
- Experience working with Chinese OEMs or cross-cultural engineering projects.
- Knowledge of prototype and low-volume manufacturing processes.
