About the Role

Work Control is a multidisciplinary group providing support to Facility Operations Directorates (FODs) for:

\n

    \n
  • Maintenance planning
  • \n

  • Scheduling
  • \n

  • Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) support
  • \n

\n

The Work Control team uses Integrated Work Management processes to plan, schedule, and execute work safely and securely.

\n

As a Work Control Planner, you will be responsible for developing and reviewing work packages that include:

\n

    \n
  • Time, labor, and material estimates
  • \n

  • Step-by-step work instructions
  • \n

  • Maintenance procedures
  • \n

  • Safety requirements
  • \n

  • Post-maintenance testing requirements
  • \n

\n

You will support operations, maintenance, construction, and modification activities involving mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiological systems.

\n

This role also includes monitoring performance metrics, maintaining databases, supporting maintenance programs, and identifying process improvement opportunities.

\n

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

Work Planning & Package Development

\n

    \n
  • Develop, review, and issue maintenance and modification work packages
  • \n

  • Prepare labor, material, and time estimates
  • \n

  • Create detailed work instructions and procedures
  • \n

  • Resolve work restraints and bring work packages to final closure
  • \n

  • Ensure compliance with work authorization requirements
  • \n

\n

Maintenance Program Support

\n

    \n
  • Develop and maintain maintenance policies and procedures
  • \n

  • Support maintenance program implementation and continuous improvement
  • \n

  • Provide training related to maintenance planning processes
  • \n

\n

Performance & Reporting

\n

    \n
  • Develop, monitor, and validate performance metrics
  • \n

  • Audit performance data and reports
  • \n

  • Maintain databases and reporting tools
  • \n

  • Generate work control and maintenance reports
  • \n

\n

Safety & Compliance

\n

    \n
  • Ensure compliance with safety, security, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • \n

  • Support lockout/tagout (LOTO) and hazard control processes
  • \n

  • Promote safe work practices and stop work when unsafe conditions exist
  • \n

\n

\n

Minimum Qualifications

\n

Knowledge & Expertise

\n

Extensive experience interpreting:

\n

    \n
  • Mechanical drawings
  • \n

  • Electrical schematics
  • \n

  • Blueprints
  • \n

  • Technical documents
  • \n

  • Strong knowledge of:
  • \n

  • Work hazards and safety practices
  • \n

  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • \n

  • Environmental and regulatory requirements
  • \n

  • Work control and maintenance planning processes
  • \n

Education & Experience

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of related experience
  • \n

\n

OR

\n

    \n
  • Equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
  • \n

\n

Post-graduate coursework may be expected at this level.

\n

DOE Requirement

\n

    \n
  • High School Diploma required under DOE Order 426.2
  • \n

\n

\n

Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Knowledge of Laboratory work control and facility procedures
  • \n

  • Experience supporting:
  • \n

  • Nuclear facilities
  • \n

  • Nuclear maintenance planning
  • \n

  • Nuclear construction planning
  • \n

  • Active Q Clearance
  • \n

Essential Physical Requirements

This position is 100% onsite in Los Alamos, New Mexico.
