Overview
A growing manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Welding & Fabrication Supervisor to lead daily operations within a fast-paced production environment. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing a small team, maintaining quality standards, and driving productivity across welding and fabrication processes.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working alongside their team while improving performance, efficiency, and overall output.
Schedule
- Shift: First Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
- Overtime: As needed, including occasional Saturdays (currently minimal OT)
Team Size
- Lead a team of 3–5 employees (currently 3)
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily activities of welders and fabricators to meet production goals
- Ensure quality standards and on-time completion of work orders
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste
- Establish and maintain production standards and best practices
- Train, coach, and develop team members while managing performance
- Ensure proper staffing levels and cross-training for operational continuity
- Promote and enforce safety and housekeeping standards
- Maintain equipment logs and ensure adherence to procedures
- Collaborate with leadership on workflow and capacity planning
- Perform hands-on welding and fabrication work as needed
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience leading a welding/fabrication team
- 5+ years of hands-on welding/fabrication experience in a manufacturing or job shop environment
- Strong experience with MIG and TIG welding
- Experience working with stainless steel, aluminum, and other alloys
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
- Familiarity with ERP systems and production tracking
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
- Understanding of welding standards and quality practices
Qualifications
- AWS certification (such as Certified Welding Inspector)
- Experience with brazing or complex fabrication work
- Background in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing
Work Environment
- Manufacturing shop setting with moderate to high noise levels
- Hands-on role requiring standing, bending, and use of tools/equipment
- Occasional operation of forklifts and overhead cranes
- Fast-paced environment with changing priorities
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Frequent standing, bending, and reaching
- Ability to perform hands-on and occasional overhead work
Compensation
- $33 – $36 per hour
- Overtime available as needed
