WE’RE HIRING: WELD PROCESS ENGINEER

Looking for a Weld Process Engineer who wants to work on complex, one-of-a-kind vessel construction—not high-volume production.
\n
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can solve welding challenges from the big-picture perspective—understanding how welding impacts structural integrity, quality, dimensional control, production flow, rework, cost, and the overall vessel build.
\n
What You’ll Do:
\n
• Serve as a technical expert for aluminum and steel welding processes
\n
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for cracking, distortion, porosity, inspection failures, and excessive rework
\n
• Develop and improve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
\n
• Improve weld sequencing, fixturing, tooling, materials, equipment, and processes
\n
• Partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Supply Chain
\n
• Support welding automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing technology
\n
• Help improve first-pass quality, productivity, and repeatability
\n
What We’re Looking For:
\n
Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field
\n
✅ AWS CWI or equivalent certification
\n
⚓ Welding engineering/process experience in shipbuilding or boatbuilding
\n
Strong experience with both aluminum and steel welding
\n
Knowledge of welding metallurgy, distortion control, joint design, filler materials, shielding gases, and weld sequencing
\n
Experience with ABS/AWS welding standards
\n
Strong root cause analysis and continuous improvement skills
\n
: 5+ years of welding process, manufacturing engineering, or welding quality experience in vessel construction.
\n
