Welding Inspector 

Responsibilities

• Perform visual weld inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 structural welding code.
• Verify compliance of welds with engineering drawings, WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), and acceptance criteria.
• Support quality and production teams by identifying and documenting nonconformances.
• Ensure welds meet dimensional tolerances and acceptance standards.
• Maintain inspection records and prepare reports.
• Communicate effectively with welders, supervisors, and quality team members to resolve issues.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to weld quality and inspection processes.

Qualifications

• Required: AWS D1.1 Certified Weld Inspector (code-specific certification) – CWI license not required.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in weld inspection or related fabrication environment.
• Strong understanding of weld symbols, drawings, and AWS D1.1 acceptance criteria.
• Familiarity with measuring tools (calipers, gauges, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret welding procedure specifications (WPS).
• Excellent attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy manufacturing, structural fabrication, or transit vehicle welding.
• Knowledge of additional welding codes (AWS D1.3, D1.6, or equivalent).
• Background in ISO 9001:2015 or other quality management systems.
