Welding Engineer\n\nLocation: Stockport\n\nSalary: Circa £60,000 + benefits\n\nJob Type: Permanent\n\nWe’re looking for an experienced Welding Engineer to take a lead role in maintaining and developing an established Welding Quality Management System within a high-integrity engineering environment.\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for a qualified individual to step into a role with real influence across welding coordination, quality assurance, and technical support functions.\n\nPlease note: Only candidates who meet the following essential criteria will be considered:\n\nIWT or EWT qualified\n\nRegistered with The Welding Institute (TWI)\n\nCSWIP 3.1 certified\n\nPrevious experience in welding coordination\n\nIn-depth knowledge of MIG/MAG (SMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding processes\n\nProficient in interpreting technical drawings and documentation\n\nWorking knowledge of ISO 3834\n\nExperience with external audit activity\n\nAbout the Role\n\nAs the Welding Engineer, you’ll be part of a specialist quality team and act as the Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) for the site. You’ll be involved in day-to-day welding operations, support new product introductions, ensure compliance with industry standards, and drive continuous improvements in welding processes. This is a broad and hands-on role that spans quality control, documentation, internal audits, and equipment strategy.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nEnsure welding activities comply with relevant standards and certifications (ISO 3834, EN 1090, DIN 2303)\n\nLead welder qualification testing to BS EN ISO 9606 & 14732\n\nDevelop and maintain WPSs and SOPs\n\nPlan and manage welding-related work orders in SAP\n\nConduct internal welder audits and manage corrective actions\n\nSupport root cause analysis and problem-solving (RCCA)\n\nLiaise with suppliers on welding capability and compliance\n\nProvide technical guidance to engineering and design teams\n\nContribute to plant/equipment selection and welding automation strategy\n\nWhat’s on Offer:\n\nSalary circa £60,000\n\n4%/7% matched pension\n\nLife assurance and enhanced sick pay\n\nHalf-day Fridays\n\nGenerous holiday allowance with long-service rewards\n\nFree on-site parking and EV charging\n\nCycle to work scheme\n\nAccess to employee wellbeing and assistance programmes\n\nThis is a key role for someone with a structured approach to quality, a passion for welding engineering, and a commitment to maintaining excellence in high-integrity fabrication.\n\nBy applying for this position, you consent to Recruit Engineering processing and storing your personal data, including your CV, contact details, and any other relevant information, for the purpose of providing work-finding services.
