You will perform high‑quality MIG and Stick welds in various positions, interpret drawings and measurements, and adapt to changing jobsite conditions while working independently or as part of a field crew.

  • Fabricate, install, and repair railings, stairs, ramps, ladders, platforms, and structural steel according to project requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and field measurements to plan and execute fabrication and installation work.
  • Lay out, fit, tack, and weld components to meet structural, code, and quality requirements with minimal guidance.
  • Conduct field modifications, repairs, and adjustments to metal structures as conditions and project needs change.
  • Work safely at heights, including on scissor lifts, scaffolding, and in tight or confined spaces when required.
  • Operate grinders, torches, saws, and other fabrication tools to cut, prep, and finish metal components.
  • Perform grinding and finishing work to ensure welds and fabricated parts meet visual and dimensional standards.
  • Inspect welds visually and verify adherence to project specifications, standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with project managers, foremen, installers, and other trades to coordinate work on active jobsites.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including hot‑work permits, use of personal protective equipment, and machine guard procedures.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and keep the work area clean, organized, and safe.
  • Assist with installations once projects are welded and fabricated, including loading, transporting, and setting components in place.
  • Travel to various job sites as needed, typically within a two‑hour commute, and meet at the shop in time to arrive on site by early morning start times.
  • Support a small‑shop environment by contributing to general shop tasks and helping coworkers as workload demands shift.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in MIG welding, including experience with structural steel and preferably miscellaneous metals.
  • Strong Stick welding skills, including vertical and out‑of‑position welding in the field.
  • Ability to perform vertical, overhead, and other out‑of‑position welds with consistent quality.
  • Hands‑on experience with miscellaneous metals and structural steel fabrication and installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings, and translate them into accurate layout and fabrication.
  • Demonstrated ability to take accurate field measurements and perform layout work independently.
  • Thin‑gauge metal fabrication and welding experience.
  • Strong blueprint skills, including the ability to take a print and fabricate, lay out, fit, and weld with little to no guidance.
