Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Welder to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for performing TIG welding and fabricating custom parts, frames, and structural components used in Akona’s material handling systems. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, a safety-first mindset, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform TIG welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components per engineering drawings and specifications.
- Operate fabrication tools such as grinders, torches, saws, and presses.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and shop drawings.
- Inspect completed welds for structural soundness, accuracy, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to resolve issues and improve build efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality, workflow, and cost control.
- Support production goals by meeting quality and timeline expectations in a team environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school welding certification .
- 2+ years of welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication setting.
- Strong working knowledge of TIG welding.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience .
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a results-oriented culture.
