Job Description

In this position, candidates will utilize welding and fabrication experience on a daily basis. Some common products that candidates will be working on include tillage equipment, storage tanks, fertilizer spreaders, HVAC equipment for ethanol plants, and other custom metal products. With such a variety of products being manufactured, candidates can expect a change in projects from week to week.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding on agricultural equipment using MIG welders.
  • Train on or learn blueprints to layout products.
  • Collaborate with other welders and leads to complete projects efficiently.
  • Fabricate materials and clean up welds with a grinder.
  • Operate an overhead crane as needed to move products.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure smooth and efficient product flow.
  • Assist in training new hires once comfortable.

Essential Skills

  • Welding and fabrication experience in a production setting.
  • Ability to set up and adjust a welding machine.
  • Proficiency in MIG welding and wirefeed techniques.
  • Familiarity with using grinders and other fabrication tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Blueprint and layout experience is a huge plus and preferred but not mandatory.
  • Prior welding experience or education required.
  • Experience with Miller Electric, Lincoln Electric, ESAB, and Fronius Welders.
  • Knowledge of using hand tools, press brakes, and tape measures.
  • Experience in metal fabrication and structure.

Work Environment

Employees are generally very helpful and work collaboratively. The shop is typically comfortable temperature-wise, even during hot weeks. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, with occasional half-day Fridays. The current workload consistently averages 50 hours per week.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
