FUNCTION DESCRIPTION:
§ Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products, according to blueprints, or work orders, using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding.
§ Welds metal parts together using both gas welding and any combination of arc welding processes.
§ Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases sizes of metal parts and clamps together components of fabricated metal products.
§ Must be able to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet employer weld requirements.
§ Must be able to do own fitting and grinding of assembly parts, as required.
§ Should be able to read blueprints and fabricate from them, perform basic shop math, read measurement tools and communicate effectively.
§ Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity are required
§ Position entails standing, lifting, reaching, carrying, sitting and crouching.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Operate arc or gas welding equipment together w/ atmospheric control equipment for hand welding operations in all positions to meet specifications for mechanical strength on diverse components and assemblies and products composed of steel, stainless steel or other metals.
§ Block, clamp or hold parts in relative position to avoid distortion.
§ Operate machine, regulate current and voltage for proper fusion of metals, pressures and flow of gas or other materials.
