As a student mechanic, you’ll gain real-world experience maintaining and inspecting school buses and fleet vehicles under the guidance of seasoned professionals. This is your chance to roll up your sleeves, learn essential skills, and explore a future in the transportation and diesel industry—right from your hometown.
What You’ll Do
Vehicle Inspections:
- Assist with daily inspections of buses and company vehicles
- Spot potential issues and report them to experienced technicians
Basic Repairs & Maintenance:
- Help perform oil changes, brake checks, tire rotations, and more
- Support scheduled maintenance tasks and learn proper procedures
Tool & Shop Care:
- Clean and care for tools and equipment
- Report any broken or unsafe tools to your mentor
Safety First:
- Follow all shop safety procedures
- Attend safety training and follow proper PPE guidelines
Teamwork & Learning:
- Shadow senior techs and learn by doing
- Work alongside a supportive team focused on safety, quality, and growth
Professional Growth:
- Attend hands-on training and skill-building workshops
- Get exposure to modern tools, diagnostic equipment, and new technologies
What You Bring
- Enrolled in high school (Work-Based Learning credit or )
- Eager to learn with an interest in diesel or automotive systems
- A strong work ethic and a knack for working with your hands
- Detail-oriented with good communication skills
- Able to follow instructions and take initiative
- Committed to safety and doing the job right

Requirements:
Physical Requirements
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
- Usually work indoors. May occasionally repair buses on the road.
- Sometimes work with hazardous equipment, tools, situations, and conditions.
- Wear a company issued uniform.
- Work inside various types of buses. Often test drive them before, during, and after repairs. (must be 18 years of or older and posess a CDL)
- Wear protective / safety gear as required.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
