Our client, a well-established and fast-growing organisation within the FMCG wholesale and food distribution sector, is seeking a driven and hands-on Warehouse Operations Manager to lead warehouse operations and deliver best-in-class service across a high-volume, fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced operational leader to build and develop high-performing teams while driving efficiency, service, and continuous improvement.\n\nJob Role\n\nReporting to the Head of Wholesale, the Warehouse Operations Manager will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running and optimisation of warehouse and operational activities. Leading multiple teams across goods-in, picking, packing, and dispatch, you will ensure customer orders are delivered on time, in full, and to specification, while maintaining strict cost control and operational excellence.\n\nThis role operates on a night shift pattern (12:00am – 9:00am, 5 days per week) and requires a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.\n\nResponsibilities\n\n * Lead, recruit, and develop a high-performing operations team, including supervisors and departmental managers.\n\n * Drive a strong performance culture focused on accountability, delivery, and continuous improvement.\n\n * Set clear objectives aligned to customer service KPIs, ensuring consistent achievement of on-time, in-full delivery targets.\n\n * Oversee all warehouse operations including goods-in, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch.\n\n * Ensure stock accuracy and integrity across both physical inventory and warehouse management systems.\n\n * Maintain high standards of product quality, handling, and customer service throughout the operation.\n\n * Monitor and improve order accuracy and fulfilment processes to meet customer expectations.\n\n * Manage labour, operational, and infrastructure costs to drive efficiencies and reduce cost per order.\n\n * Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and operational performance.\n\n * Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and scalability.\n\n * Drive continuous improvement initiatives, using operational data and KPIs to inform decision-making.\n\n * Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment across departments and support overall business objectives.\n\n * Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and internal teams to ensure service excellence.\n\n * Oversee site management, ensuring safety, security, cleanliness, and operational readiness at all times.\n\n * Ensure compliance with all health & safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.\n\n * Manage operational infrastructure, including equipment, systems, and supplier relationships.\n\n * Lead resource and workforce planning to meet fluctuating demand effectively.\n\n * Support and lead operational projects, driving change and delivering measurable improvements.\n\nPersonal Profile\n\n * Proven experience in an Operations Manager or Warehouse Manager role within FMCG, food distribution, or wholesale environments.\n\n * Strong leadership skills with experience managing large teams in fast-paced operations.\n\n * Demonstrated ability to drive performance improvements and deliver against KPIs.\n\n * Commercially aware with experience managing costs and improving operational efficiency.\n\n * Strong understanding of warehouse operations, stock control, and logistics processes.\n\n * Experience implementing SOPs, systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n\n * Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.\n\n * Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.\n\n * Resilient and adaptable, with the ability to perform under pressure in a time-critical environment.\n\nRef Code: CV(phone number removed)\n\nTo apply, please send your comprehensive CV in strict confidence, quoting the reference above and for the attention of Jon Hemming-Nash.
