We are currently seeking a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer to support operations in Charleston, SC. This is a full-time, CONUS position requiring an active DoD Top Secret Security clearance

What You’ll Do
As a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) Expeditionary Enterprise Systems and Services (E2S2) Division. NIWC Atlantic provides design, acquisition, and sustainment services for Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) Information Technology (IT) systems.
 You will:

  • Basic Virtualization Knowledge - Broadcom VMware, Omnissa Horizon
    Windows OS Basics - Install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows and/or Server.
  • Active Directory Basics - Logging in users, resetting passwords, understanding user accounts.
  • Basic Networking - IP addresses, DNS, and how network issues affect virtual desktops.
  • Troubleshooting skills - use log files, event history, and version control to trace issues.
  • Patch Management - applying updates to fix security vulnerabilities, bugs, and performance issues. 

What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Mathematics with field of concentration in computer science.
    • Minimum 3 (three) years of experience in relevant technical field, to include: Systems/Equipment Support, and Test and Evaluation support of C5ISR requirements.
    • 1 (one) year of technical experience in support of task Specific Project - experience may be achieved simultaneously.
  • Certifications:

Individual shall be working toward the relevant certifications within one and a half year after assuming duties:

    • Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM)/ Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) or with COR approval
    • Complete a vendor/platform specific certification
    • Microsoft role-based certifications
    • Microsoft Certified Applicable Developer (MCAD)
    • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA)
    • Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP)
    • CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
    • CISCO Certified Design Professional (CCDP)
    • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
    • VMWare Certified Professional (VCP)
    • Cloud certifications, etc.

  • Bullet out or write in paragraph form

Travel & Passport

  • One or Two weeklong trips per year CONUS or OCONUS.
  • Must have an active passport to support OCONUS travel and/or living requirements.

Work Environment

  • Compliance with vaccination and medical requirements for TDY/OCONUS roles as per Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil.

Office setting:

  • Primarily an office-based role in Charleston, SC.
  • Standard desk/computer work with flexibility for walking and movement on site
  • Must be able to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.
  • Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
  • May be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.

  • Drug screening may be required for federal contract compliance
