Vice President, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)

Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Vice President, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to serve as the senior functional leader for all EHS activities across North America operations and construction. This role is accountable for shaping and executing Vantage's long-term EHS vision, driving a culture of safety excellence, and embedding risk management into every aspect of our business.

As a key member of the North America functional leadership team, the Vice President will partner with global EHS leadership, regional functionals, and senior stakeholders across operations, construction, and corporate functions. The successful candidate will be a forward-thinking, visible leader with a proven record of delivering measurable results, building high-performing teams, and influencing functional-level decision making.

This role can be based in any of our US locations: Ashburn, VA, Denver, CO, Phoenix, AZ, San Antonio, TX, or Columbus, OH.

Essential Job Functions:

Strategic Leadership Define and execute the EHS strategy for North America, ensuring alignment with Vantage's global safety vision and business priorities.

Functional Influence Serve as the functional EHS sponsor for the region, advising senior leaders and the board on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and cultural transformation opportunities.

Team Development Lead, mentor, and develop a team of senior EHS professionals across projects and facilities, fostering alignment, accountability, and career growth.

Risk & Resilience Oversee programs addressing high-risk activities (e.g., energized electrical work, hazardous energy control, SIF prevention), ensuring proactive risk mitigation and systemic learning.

Governance & Assurance Maintain strong governance frameworks, KPIs, and reporting systems. Lead audits, assessments, and benchmarking initiatives to drive continuous improvement.

Culture & Change Leadership Champion safety as a core business value, embedding EHS into leadership behaviors and day-to-day decision making across construction and operations.

Innovation & Technology Advance the use of analytics, predictive tools, and digital platforms to enhance visibility, prevention, and performance outcomes.

External Representation Represent Vantage with regulators, industry associations, and external partners, reinforcing our commitment to Vision Zero and industry leadership

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering or related discipline; advanced degree . Equivalent experience considered.

Experience:

20+ years of progressive EHS leadership, including functional responsibility for large, complex, multi-site organizations.

Demonstrated success in leading distributed teams and embedding safety culture across construction and operations.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices, with ability to influence evolving requirements.

Proven ability to present to and influence functional teams, boards, regulators, and industry stakeholders.

Track record of introducing innovation, scalable programs, and cultural transformation in high-risk environments.

Exceptional communication, leadership, and change management skills.

Reporting & Relationships:

Reports directly to the Global Vice President of EHS.

Member of the North America Functional Leadership Team with cross-functional engagement across Operations, Development, and Corporate Services.

Travel required is expected to be up to 30%-40% but may increase over time as the business evolves.

Additional Details:

Salary Range: $200,000 - $230,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)
