Job Description
Job Title: VMware Cloud Foundation Platform Automation Engineer\nLocation: Remote (occasional travel to Bristol - once per quarter)\nRemuneration: £750.0 - £800.0 per day\nContract Details: Fixed Term Contract, 6 months\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nLead the automation of a VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) platform build in a greenfield environment, ensuring seamless integration and deployment.\nEstablish API-driven automation frameworks for VCF components to enhance operational efficiency.\nAutomate the creation of VCF workload domains (Prod, Non-Prod, DMZ, Mgmt) and NSX segments aligned with VLANs.\nImplement robust network segmentation and isolation to uphold the separation of operational and corporate networks.\nDevelop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps-driven workflows for streamlined processes.\nBuild and maintain VM provisioning pipelines, including golden images, network attachments, and baseline security policies.\nIntegrate platform logging and event streams into Splunk Cloud for comprehensive audit and monitoring.\nDefine DFW rulesets and security policies as code, managed via CI/CD pipelines.\nValidate East-West and North-South traffic flows, ensuring strict network isolation boundaries and compliance controls.\nAlign NSX networking with FortiGate and Cisco underlay infrastructure to optimize performance.\nEnable application hosting capabilities within a DevOps pipeline, supporting cutting-edge delivery practices. \n\nTechnical Requirements:\n\nActive SC Clearance (mandatory).\nStrong hands-on experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF).\nProven experience as a Platform Automation / DevOps Engineer.\nProficient scripting and automation skills in Ansible and Python.\nExperience working with APIs for infrastructure automation.\nSolid understanding of networking concepts: VLANs, routing, firewalls, overlay networking/NSX.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git/version control, and infrastructure release workflows. \n\nDesirable Skills:\n\nExperience in critical infrastructure or highly regulated environments.\nExposure to monitoring, logging, and observability tooling.\nKnowledge of security hardening, compliance, and audit controls.\nVMware certifications.\nExperience designing platforms for secure workload hosting at scale.
