Validation Protection & Control Engineer

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Validation Protection & Control Engineer on an initial 6 month contract based in Staffordshire



This role falls INSIDE IR35



Skills / Experience Requirements:

1. Distance Protection Testing:

o Understanding and testing protection systems for electrical grid components, possibly in virtualized environments to simulate real-time scenarios.

o This could involve automated testing tools and techniques to ensure stability and reliability.

2. IEC61850 Experience (Nice to Have):

o IEC61850 is a communication standard for electrical substations. If applicable, this could involve testing virtualized control systems or simulators for substation automation.

3. Omicron CMC2/356 Device Familiarity (Strongly recommend):

o The CMC356 is a testing device used for commissioning and maintaining protection relays. If your project involves virtualized testing of protection systems, familiarity with such a device is important.



Qualifications:

• Commission Engineer (Big advantage and highly but not mandatory)

• Minimum of 5+ years in embedded firmware testing, with experience in protection and control schemes and relays.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
