Position Summary
The Gas Turbine Start-Up Technician will perform all activities required for the Start-up & Commissioning of LM6000 gas turbines.
Location : Field
Travel : Travel will be required
Essential Job Functions
Perform LM6000 Gas Turbine lube oil flushing.
Responsible for LM6000 Gas Turbine start-up testing and performance testing which includes reviewing documents and P&IDs, performing testing and troubleshooting on plant systems and equipment.
Attend daily start-up meetings to coordinate activities in a safe manner while interfacing with other personnel involved in the project such as electrical, controls, construction, operations, engineering, and vendors.
Ensure the correct LM6000 Turbine pre-commissioning, commissioning and maintenance practices are followed.
Ensures lockout and tag-out procedures and all other safety-related activities are maintained.
Ensure all in-field activities are carried out safely complying with company environmental, health, and safety (EHS) guidelines and procedures.
Qualifications
5+ years of start-up and commissioning experience of LM6000 gas turbines.
Demonstrated progressive, responsible experience with various types of turbine generator equipment and site accountabilities is required.
Experience in rigging turbines, generators and associated equipment.
Borescope Inspection on aeroderivative units.
Job requires travel domestically and internationally for extended periods of time.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; ability to communicate effectively with all levels, internally and externally.
Strong analytic, problem-solving and computer skills.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Technical competence including understanding software, hardware, networks, etc.
Candidate must have legal authority to permanently work in the U.S.
Physical Eligibility Requirements
Must be able and willing to work long hours.
Must be able and willing to work in extreme weather conditions (heat and cold) for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to climb ladders and steps.
Extensive travel to and from projects and various field assignments is required. International travel may be required.
