About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Underground Wet Utility Project Manager to oversee public and private infrastructure projects involving water, sewer, and storm drain systems. This role is responsible for managing projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract requirements.
This position is ideal for a hands-on project manager who understands underground construction, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can effectively coordinate between field crews, subcontractors, owners, and inspectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of underground wet utility projects (water, sewer, storm drain)
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost tracking
- Coordinate with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, engineers, and inspectors
- Review plans, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and contract requirements
- Attend jobsite and owner meetings and provide regular project updates
- Track quantities, progress billings, and project documentation
- Resolve field issues and proactively mitigate project risks
- Oversee project closeout, including as-builts and final documentation
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience managing underground wet utility construction projects
- Strong knowledge of water, sewer, and storm drain systems
- Experience with public works projects
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts
- Proficiency with construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Excel)
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Valid drivers license
Experience
- Experience working with municipalities and utility agencies
- Familiarity with prevailing wage and public works compliance
- Civil construction or engineering background a plus
