Job Description:
Embodies the company culture, SQE and delivers results accordingly. In accordance with the President's vision, SQE mission and strategic plan, the Project Manager for a given project plans the work, communicates the plan, and monitors progress for a given project. They manage the costs, schedules, and relationships with owners, general contractors, and related subcontractors all to successfully complete safe projects on time and within budget. Reports directly to the General Manager-Underground Utilities.
Responsibilities:
Planning:
- Develops an initial work plan and schedule for the utility work on projects with the project team
- Updates and communicates the plan through the life of the project
- Plans and communicates resources for utility work on projects with project team to meet schedule and budget
- Plans and collaborates with others on safety plans and resources needed for utility work on projects
Operations:
- Organizes, plans, communicates, and monitors the safe work practices on given projects
- Approves daily field reports, checks quantities produced, prepares look ahead schedules, and monitors costs and safety associated with the work.
- Communicates progress with project team on a weekly basis
- Communicates with subcontractors, vendors, and clients during the construction process
- Communicates with operations manager, general superintendent, crews, and upper management during the construction process
- Assists in the growth of up-and-coming utility supervisors
- Mentors younger project managers and project staff, if applicable
- Seeks out and evaluates opportunities to better Edgerton's position on a given project. (CRI's, waste and dump sites, thinking outside the box, etc.)
- Manages risk on the project related to utility work.
Financial:
- Prices and negotiates utility change orders with the owner/general contractor stand-alone utility work or supports project management of the same on combined scopes
- Monitors and communicates financial standing on utility scope of projects to upper management
- Performs cost to complete analysis monthly for utility scope
- Works with accounting on extra work and invoicing the client and supports project management in developing invoices for the utility scope of work
- Project closeout quantities and payments for utility work

Qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience in heavy civil construction
- 4-year degree in engineering, construction management or related degree
- Knowledge base or ability to learn pipe
- Demonstrated accountability for their work from previous employment
- Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit
- Scheduling and money management capabilities
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
